Flipped Classroom Video

Hello, my dear reader, you are in the right place to learn new information. πŸ‘€πŸ”πŸ’«

Today, I will inform you about the flipped classroom approach and introduce today’s task.

Unlike traditional teaching methods, in the flipped classroom approach, students get their first impressions at home about their subjects thanks to technology. Then they go to school and analyze problems and areas that are not understood. Students work collaboratively and lessons become student-centered rather than teacher-centered. ✅One of the most important advantages of the flipped classroom is that students can control their learning by pausing, rewatching, or rewinding lesson videos. Thus, students become more active and discover their methods of learning the course. Teachers cease to be the center of the subject in the lesson and take on the role of supporting and motivating students. Thanks to the flipped classroom approach, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and higher-order skills. πŸ“±πŸ“°πŸ’»

❗Of course, the flipped classroom has its negative aspects as well. Nowadays, although it is a difficult possibility, not every student may have an internet connection and devices at home. This may cause financial and moral difficulties for some students and their families. Additionally, since the flipped classroom requires students to work individually, students may not be able to focus or do not want to do lessons. Assigned tasks, class, or peer work may not be completed by some students. Shy students may have difficulty actively participating in classes at school and may not get enough efficiency from classes. Even though there are negative conditions, I wish we could leave the boring traditional methods aside and see flipped classroom studies in our lessons to keep up with the advancing technology and our age.

Now let's talk a little about our task. In this task, we worked as a pair with my friend and created a vocabulary video to use in the flipped classroom.

This video is for 5th-grade students and about games and hobbies subject. At first, the idea of creating a video before starting the assignment seemed very scary. It continued to scare us until we found the app we were going to use; but once we found the right app for our purpose, things got a lot easier. We used ‘Animaker’ to create our video and ‘Edpuzzle’ to create questions for students. You can create any video you can think of with the Animaker application. After you choose the video you want to create, the application helps you by providing templates and visuals. Of course, you can add your voice or other music to your video. However, if you are uploading your voice, the difficult part is to match what you say with the visuals in the video. Frankly, this was one of the parts that challenged us the most.

In the Edpuzzle application, we used the ‘add question’ section while creating the second part of our video. In this application, we created our video from the ‘Create your own video’ section and added interactive questions. To make the video more productive for students, we arranged it so that the questions are not left unanswered. Thus, in our video, we wanted the students to both learn the subject and reinforce it. πŸ‘ŒπŸ’

I gave you a lot of information today, I hope you are not bored.
In short, it can be said that this assignment is one of our most difficult but most instructive assignments. I hope you have fun using these applications. And finally, I would be happy if you finish this beautiful blog post by watching our video. I hope you like our video and take care until we meet next time.
