Welcome my dear reader last time for this semester. ππ«This blog post will be about what we learned and what projects we have done together so far. ☑
First of all, Current Issues in Teaching lesson taught me a lot. I saw how we can make course presentations, homework assignments, and projects more effectively, in accordance with the new technology and in a creative way. I observed that lessons can be taught better with technology rather than teaching them with classical methods. ππ It was very beneficial to both do the projects of this course and use it with my students. I was excited that learning and teaching were more efficient and that technology and applications were doing things we would never have thought of.
However, every beauty has its' flaw. π I agree that it is very fun and nice to use, but it is quite difficult to learn how to use technology and its applications. There are countless applications, and you should find the one that suits your purpose and is the most effective. This lesson taught me which applications I can use and where; however, how and at what levels you will use it is up to your curiosity and research ability. ππ· If you are going to take this course, you should have a good relationship with technology. Even if you are not familiar with technology, you must have interest, enthusiasm, and desire to learn, but don't worry; once you start, you can't stop. ππ―πOf course, collaboration is also very important for this course. You will learn how to cooperate with your friends and how to behave towards them in this process. Sometimes you will look through the eyes of others; sometimes you will celebrate your perfect and bright ideas together. πππΈ But in the end, even you will be surprised how much you learn in this course.
ππͺπ₯ Now let's see what projects we did and what applications we used. π₯ π
Firstly, we started the semester by creating our digital worksheet with my friends. We learned how to use 'corpus' and used applications like CoCa and BNCto improve our corpus use. While preparing our digital worksheet, we took advantage of the Canva application, which is indispensable for us. ππ»
Secondly, we learned about the flipped classroom and created a videoand quiz for our students to integrate them with technology. We used the Animaker application when preparing the video and the Eddpuzzle application for the quiz. This may be the task I enjoyed and learned the most and I can also say that it was our most difficult assignment. Because until we prepared the video, it was very difficult to figure out how we should prepare it. Additionally, synchronizing our voice with the visuals in the video was quite challenging. ππ£
πAs a third one, we improved our knowledge about 'augmented reality' and led our students to explore a global issue with AR. We reinforced them with AR videos to better understand global issues and prepared a digital worksheet for them to complete. In the end, we completed our task by giving them a brochure preparation project. This one was easy and fun task to do with my friends compared to others. π«π
Lastly, as a group we created an AI-integrated teaching material for EFL students. For this task, we focused on the writing skills of students and chose our activities and applications according to this. We chose different applications for pre-task, target-task, and post-task of the students'. We wanted to maximize students' use of AI and improve their writing skills considerably. For this task, we used ChatGPT and Magic School.

Unlike traditional teaching methods, in the flipped classroom approach, students get their first impressions at home about their subjects thanks to technology. Then they go to school and analyze problems and areas that are not understood. Students work collaboratively and lessons become student-centered rather than teacher-centered. ✅One of the most important advantages of the flipped classroom is that students can control their learning by pausing, rewatching, or rewinding lesson videos.
